NORTON TO EXHIBIT 5700 SERIES LOW ENERGY DOOR OPERATORS AT ASIS 2012

PHILADELPHIA, PA, September 10, 2012 – Norton Door Controls (www.nortondoorcontrols.com), the leading manufacturer of commercial door closers and an ASSA ABLOY Group company, will exhibit its 5700 Series Low Energy Door Operators at ASIS 2012.

The patented design of the 5700 - a product unique to the power operator market – is based on ease and simplicity. The 5700 installs in minutes rather than hours and consists of just three basic components: inverter, motor and a standard Norton 1601 Series closer body.  Quiet operation makes it ideal for doctors' offices, retirement facilities, schools, churches, and any location where noise is a major concern but special features are not a requirement.

What separates the 5700 from other operators is its ability to function as a standard door closer.  When the door is opened manually, there is minimal resistance, and the drive train and motor are not engaged.  The 1601 closer, not the motor, controls the closing cycle.  This makes the operator efficient and, even with loss of power, the door can be manually opened and will close via the door closer's spring force.

The 5700 door operators are shipped standard with a built-in 1.1A power supply – one of the highest on the market today.  This feature allows for simple integration with most electric strikes, motion sensors and exit devices.

The 5700 is listed with UL and ANSI/BHMA A156.19 and meets the requirements of ADA and ANSI/BHMA A156.4.  The 5700 can be activated via wall switch or radio frequency device and is available for push or pull side applications.  It also features obstruction detection and
hold open options of 0-30 seconds.

Low energy door operators were once considered a necessity only for those with physical challenges.  However, because of today's busy lifestyles, the convenience of "hands-free" door opening is more popular than ever.
